Let's Chat About...Donald Trump

I just want to start out by saying that I don't usually get involved with politics and I questioned even writing this blog, but... with the election coming up, it's pretty hard not to!

Right off the bat I am going to say that I consider myself Conservative, therefore Republican. This blog is not intended to influence any opinions, I simply wanted to understand more about our Republican Candidate and what he stands for.

A timeline outlining Donald Trump's life:

1946: Born June 14th at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York. He was the 4th of 5 children: Maryanne, Fred Jr., Elizabeth, Donald and Robert. He attended Private Elementary School, Dew-Forest from kindergarten to 7th grade. At age 13 he was enrolled at the New York Military Acadamy, a Private Boarding School.

1959: Confirmed at Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, Queens.

1964: Enrolled at Fordham University then 2 years later transferred to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

1968: Graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Economics. After graduation he was employed at his Father's Real Estate Company "Trump Management".

1971: Became President of the company and renamed it "Trump Organization". During his time with the business, he focused on building infrastructure such as Hotels, Casinos and Golf Courses.

1977: Married Super Model Ivana Zelnickova. They had 3 children together: Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric.

1987: Donald Trump has produced 19 books under his name, the first being "The Art of the Deal" published in 1987 making the New York Times Best Seller List. He also registered as a Republican that year.

1988: The "Donald J. Trump Foundation" was established. This Foundation provided funding to Health and Sports Charities along with Conservative Groups. The organization dissolved by court order in 2018.

1989: He lent his name to "Tour de Trump" in attempt to create an American Bicycle Race equivalent to the "Tour de France" of Europe. After 2 years the sponsorship shifted to DuPont and the race was renamed "Tour DuPont".

1990: Donald and Ivana divorced after his affair with Marla Maples.

1993: Married Marla Maples and they had one daughter together: Tiffany. They divorced in 1999. He also purchased the New Jersey Generals, a US Football League Team. He tried to get them into the NFL but failed.

1996 - 2015: Trump owned part of the Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants. He also hosted several boxing matches at the Atlantic City Convention Hall.

2004: Cofounded "Trump University", selling seminars on Real Estate Business. New York City notified the company that using the term "University" was in violation of State Law. The name was then changed to "Trump Entrepeneur Initiative" in 2010.

2005: Married Slovenian Model Melania Krauss. They have one son together: Barron.

2004-2015: Co-Produced and hosted the reality television series "The Apprentice" and "The Celebrity Apprentice".

2007: Received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as Producer of the Miss Universe Pageant.

2015: Trumps Lawyer threated the schools he attended with legal action if they released his academic records.

2020: Identified himself as a Non-Denominational Christian.

Political Career:

Donald Trump ran for Nomination as the Reform Party Candidate in California & Michigan in the 2000 Election but eventually withdrew from the race.

In June of 2015 he announced his Candidacy for the 2016 Primary Election. He became the front runner in March 2016 and was declared the Republican Nominee in May.

On Nov. 8, 2016, he was elected the United States President over Democratic Candidate Hillary Clinton. He won in 30 States vs. her 20. He was inaugurated into office as the 45th President on January 20, 2017, and served through 2020.

Donald Trump is the only President of the US without any Military or Government background.

Actions of President Trump During his Term

  1. Economic Boom & Job Growth (Before the Pandemic, 7 million new jobs were created. Middle Class income increased by nearly $6,000. Unemployment Rate reached a historic low of 3.5%).

  2. Ordered a Travel Ban on immigrants from several Muslim Majority Countries.

  3. Reduced Poverty & Income Inequality (Poverty rates for African & Hispanic Americans hit record lows. The bottom 50% of American households experienced a 40% increase in net worth. Wage raises for Blue Collor & Low-Income workers resulting in an average 16% increase).

  4. Diverted Military Funding toward building a wall dividing United States and Mexico.

  5. Trade & Manufacturing (Implemented tariffs to some overseas trade & promoted domestic production).

  6. Initiated a trade war with China by implementing tariff charges on goods coming into the country.

  7. Healthcare & Affordable Care Act - Obama Care (Trump didn't repeal Obama Care, but his actions inadvertently bolstered it. By cutting subsidies to low-income enrollees, it led to health care plans incorporating those costs into their premiums. The healthcare system didn't collapse as he hoped it would, instead it adapted to the change).

  8. Judicial Appointment (Appointed 3 Supreme Court Judges and several Federal Judges).

  9. Environmental Policies (Rolled back many environmental regulations in order to reduce hurdles for businesses. Withdrew from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal).

  10. Foreign Policy & Diplomacy (Emphasizes the importance of Religious Freedom & established the White House Faith & Opportunity Initiative).

Donald J. Trump is the Republican Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election. Here are some of the top issues in his campaign:

  • Economy - Aims to tackle inflation and make America affordable by expanding US energy production and reducing housing costs.

  • Taxes - Extend and expand the tax cuts from 2017 and eliminate taxes on Social Security payments. He also wants to exempt tip income and overtime pay from taxation.

  • Trade - Proposes new tariffs on foreign goods, particularly from China, to promote domestic production.

  • Immigration - Emphasizes stricter immigration policies, including building a border wall.

  • Abortion - Supports restrictions on abortion and opposes Federal Legislation guaranteeing abortion access.

  • Climate Change - Advocates for increased support for fossil fuels and less regulatory intervention on climate issues.

So, there you have it! All of the information I gathered came from the internet, mostly Wikipedia or Bing Copilot. I am not trying to start any controversy, just want to educate and inform.
